On Friday, September 8, BC High ushered in the new school year with the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit, a tradition which dates back to 1548 in Messina, Sicily, and the first Jesuit School. The Mass calls the Holy Spirit to assist all members of the school community in their pursuit of knowledge. BC High used the occasion to welcome its newest members of the community, the class of 2021, 2023, transfer students, and new faculty and staff. This year’s service held special meaning because it was the first time BC High could officially welcome new President, Grace Regan P’12. Before offering the Call to Worship, President Regan took a moment to introduce herself and express her love and gratitude for BC High, “I look forward to our journey together over the next several years.”
In addition to recognizing our new community members, there were more than 180 special guests in attendance for Mass. For the second year, parents and grandparents were invited to a welcome coffee hour hosted by the Office of Advancement and the Parent Groups. During the coffee hour parents were able to meet representatives from the BC High parent groups: the Parent Leadership Associates, CASA, Mothers’ Guild and Fathers’ Group. All were encouraged to jump into the parent community by getting involved, taking advantage of offerings to get to know fellow parents/guardians, and supporting BC High.
