In the Fall of 2020, under the direction of Board Chair Fr. Michael McFarland, SJ and President Grace Regan P’12, the Board of Trustees embarked on a process to develop the next strategic plan for BC High. In January 2022, the plan was fully approved and the work has begun. We are excited to share with you the next Strategic Plan for Boston College High School.
Strategic Plan – Updated February 2024
On April 7, I was joined by Maria Cadigan, daughter of the late Patrick Cadigan ’52, the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students to share the excitement of a transformational $49 million gift to BC High.
This gift is not just an investment in a physical space here on campus, but an investment in the formation of generations of young men. To be used solely for a capital building project, we are profoundly grateful for Pat and his family’s enduring commitment to supporting student health and wellness. The Wellness Complex will continue to deepen our approach to relational teaching and learning, enhancing both the philosophical and physical aspects of a Jesuit, Catholic education.
The Patrick F. Cadigan ’52 Family Foundation Wellness Complex will be a 50,000 square foot space with two separate entrances (East Entrance, adjacent to Walsh Hall and the Arrupe Divistion and the West Entrance, adjacent to the McNeice Pavillion and the Bulger Performing Arts Center). The Cadigan Complex will feature a 6,200 square foot state-of-the-art strength and conditioning area; a 3,700 square foot cardio space; a 1,000 square foot athletic training center; and an eight lane, 25 meter pool with 1 meter and 3 meter diving boards. It will also include a flexible classroom space, complete with a wellness kitchen, to help BC High students learn about and incorporate healthy, nutritious foods into their active lifestyles. Construction is anticipated to begin in January 2023.
Our goal is to nurture and transform young men of diverse backgrounds into exceptional, reflective, leaders of character, compassion, and spiritual and intellectual depth, committed to building a more just and inclusive world in the timeless Jesuit, Catholic tradition.
We are guided by the following three priorities which will be addressed in each of our strategic initiatives.
Provide a transformative experience of the head, heart, and hands in the pursuit of human excellence (academics, co-curricular, spiritual, and service.) House System
Recruit, support, and retain faculty and staff who will be deeply committed to our mission and values.
Attract and support a diverse student body that will embrace and further our Jesuit, Catholic mission.
Develop, enhance, and maintain state of the art facilities, classrooms, and campus grounds to accommodate all of our students’ academic, athletic, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. Campus Master Plan
Strengthen BC High’s position as a leader in the City of Boston, the Jesuit global network, and beyond.
This form provides a vehicle for the community to share their insight, expertise, and feedback on the strategic plan and process.
