BC HIGH APPOINTS DR. DENNIS HILL DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

Boston, Mass. (February 21, 2022): Boston College High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis R. Hill II, Ed. D, as its new Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dr. Hill joins BC High after his tenure at Southern New Hampshire University, where he spent ten years serving the university in multiple capacities, including adjunct professor, lecturer, and most recently, Associate Director of Office Diversity Programs.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the BC High community, I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Hill to Morrissey Boulevard. His kindness and compassion for others – along with his demonstrated record of success bringing communities together – will help BC High continue our journey towards becoming a more anti-racist and just school,” shared President Grace Regan. “I’d like to thank the search committee for their hard work and time spent reviewing resumes, talking with our community, and meeting candidates, and for their commitment to ensuring that we found the right partner in Dr. Hill to lead us forward.”

In a statement shared with the BC High community, Dr. Hill wrote, “to the students, faculty, and staff of BC High, I am beyond elated to join everyone. My passion for education is rooted in diversity, equity, inclusion, and mentoring future youth leaders. I am excited to soar with the Eagles of BC High…to quote James Baldwin, ‘Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.’”

Dr. Hill’s experience spans across roles within the classroom to administrative leadership in diverse campus communities. As an adjunct professor and lecturer at Southern New Hampshire University, Colby-Sawyer College, and Daniel Webster College, he has led courses in areas such as marketing, sport management, and sales. In his current role, Dr. Hill works with students, faculty, and staff to create an inclusive and supportive campus where students feel seen, valued, and empowered. Throughout his time at Southern New Hampshire University, he has collaborated with stakeholders to foster a shared, accessible, and adaptable vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In our conversations it is clear that Dr. Hill is drawn to being part of a faith-based community of depth that has Christ at its center,” said Principal Adam Lewis. “He is particularly committed to the formation of young men and clearly understands that our diversity, equity, and inclusion work is central to our mission as a Jesuit school. Dr. Hill values authentic relationships and presence, and I have no doubt he will make us better through his leadership.”

Dr. Hill received his doctorate in educational leadership, a master’s degree in sport management, and graduate certificates in athletic administration and international sport management from Southern New Hampshire University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas.
