Sankofa is a network of BC High alumni who identify as black and/or latino. All black and latino alumni are welcome to join Sankofa and participate in its mentoring program. The mission of the Sankofa Mentoring Program is to assist current black and latino students with their academic, social, and spiritual formation during their time at BC High. Through the program, students will be given the opportunity to connect and build relationships with black and latino alumni.
This program nourishes student needs beyond the classroom and provides the support, the resources, and the voices necessary to ensure black and latino students are successful during their time at BC High and beyond. During the academic year, mentors and mentees will work to cultivate leadership skills, build community, and have fun through social and academic programs put on by the Sankofa Mentorship staff.
At its core, this program is rooted in the Catholic tradition of our school, specifically in its Jesuit values, which calls for a faith that is committed to the promotion of justice. This program reflects our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and ensuring every student and alumnus feels known, cared for, and seen. If you are an alumnus, current student, or parent that identifies as black and/or latino and would like to learn more about Sankofa, please contact Assistant Director of Alumni Programs, Kenny Delino ’16, [email protected]
