Urban immersion experiences at BC High place you on the front lines of social, economic, and environmental change right here in the United States, giving you unprecedented opportunities to make a meaningful difference before graduating. Through charity, advocacy, education, and relationship-building, you’ll work hand-in-hand with Jesuit and Catholic ministries and other service organizations in under-served communities—and you’ll experience first-hand how it feels to effect real change in the very places it’s needed most.
Located in the dynamic Columbia Point neighborhood of Boston, a BC High education is an urban experience in and of itself. Every day, our students get a taste of urban life while traveling to school or participating in one of the many experiences that bring our students into the heart of the city. Whether you’re participating in our Harvard University MedScience program, handing out fresh, nutritious meals to the homeless in Boston Common, taking in an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, participating in the political process at the Kennedy Institute or simply riding the T to school, you’ll quickly come to see yourself as an integral part of a diverse and vibrant urban community.

The Romero Center
Camden, NJ
Work with the Romero Center, a Retreat and Social Justice Education Center, to serve extremely poor and vulnerable populations throughout Camden, NJ in this immersive weeklong service experience.
Who is my Neighbor?
Boston, MA
This program, which spans the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester, St. Peter’s Parish, Haley House Bakery and the Coalition for Youth Jobs, seeks to answer the crucial question: “Who is my neighbor?” As part of this quest, you’ll stay on campus to serve and advocate for vulnerable populations in Dorchester and Roxbury, two underserved neighborhoods in the greater Boston area.
Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice
Washington, D.C.
The Ignatian Family Teach-In for Justice is a three-day annual gathering in which students from Jesuit school across the United States discuss solutions for injustice, poverty and oppression on a local, national and international level. The event began as a tribute to fallen El Salvadoran Jesuit martyrs, their housekeeping and daughter who were killed in 1989 for speaking out against the country’s tumultuous civil war.
Come & See: Backyard Mission
Syracuse, NY
Come & See is a Brady Faith Center immersion program that will challenge, nurture, and empower you to deepen your relationship with God. During this program you’ll work directly with immigrants, as well as those who are impoverished, homeless, or disabled.

New Orleans
During this seven-day excursion to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region, you’ll learn first-hand about the ecological and economic devastation of Hurricane Katrina, discuss race and real estate with activists from the Center for Ethical Living and Social Justice Renewal, and tutor children at a local elementary school. You may also get to sample powder-coated beignets in the French Quarter, tour the warehouse where Mardi Gras floats are created and stored, attend Sunday Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral, and even participate in a Mardi Gras parade.
